  • When setting up company codes for materials management

  • When changing the Allow backposting or Disallow backposting indicators

To create a material master record, the control record must exist for the company code for which you want to create your master record. To set up a company code, enter the current period here. Alternatively, you can do this with the period closing program.


Definition :- Smallest organizational unit of external accounting for which a complete, self-contained set of accounts can be created. This includes the entry of all transactions that must be posted and the creation of all items for legal individual financial statements, such as the balance sheet and the profit and loss statement. The definition of the company code organizational unit is obligatory


Use :- The company code is the central organizational unit of external accounting within the SAP System. You must define at least one company code before implementing the Financial Accounting component. The business transactions relevant for Financial Accounting are entered, saved, and evaluated at company code level.


 


Steps to Maintain company codes for material management in SAP


Step 1 :- Follow the menu path


  • IMG Menu Path :- SPRO > Logistics > General > Material Master > Basic settings > Maintain company codes for material management

Step 2 :- Click on position icon and update Company code and press enter

Step 3 :- Next screen update the mandatory fields – Year and period
